As we wrap up our 2025 season, we want to thank all the wonderful climbers who joined us this year for a climb, a course, or an adventure! This has been a very enjoyable season, with many new and familiar faces, both on the rock and on our guiding team.

This year we had many courses, especially Top-rope Climbing and Outdoor Sport Lead, and a number of climbers interested in Self Rescue skills. We were lucky to host a number of adaptive climbing days with the Canadian Adaptive Climbing Society and Rise Above Adaptive Climbing, and lots of youth groups and families inspiring the next generation!

Call for Guides

A big thank you to our group of enthusiastic and hard-working guides, we couldn't do it without you!

As always, this is the time of year I put out a call for guides, encouraging those who may be interested in working in this rewarding field to get in touch. We are always looking for fun, safety-minded climbers looking to share their stoke and help others learn the ropes and manage risk. Although we offer many of our courses in the Milton area, we are also looking for guides or aspiring guides in other parts of the province.

On The Rocks contracts PCGI-certified guides. We offer guiding courses and assessments each year, and are also interested in hearing from guides with other certifications or experience. I am always happy to chat with aspiring guides to help them plan future steps to achieve their goals.

Next Season's Calendar

Although I love winter activities, trips and climbing adventures, I am already looking forward to next season, planning our courses and thinking up new offerings! Our initial 2026 Calendar is up and running. Check it out!

Forward-thinking climbers can book courses by December 31 to take advantage of 2025 Pricing. An On The Rocks course or Gift Card is a great present for the climber in your life!

Access

Please keep climbing access in mind this year, as we have seen promising moves by Ontario Parks to allow climbing at Devils Glen. If accepted, the proposed amendment will designate the crag as a conservation zone, with climbing allowed as long as it is compatible with conservation goals. Consider getting involved by joining your local access organization, such as the Ontario Alliance of Climbers and Crag Care Ottawa.

At this moment, it is more important than ever that climbers demonstrate responsible behaviour in caring for our crags. Please respect our crags and the parks and lands they currently exist on.
