
On The Rocks Climbing Guides is looking for a contracted rock climbing guide from May-August. This is a part-time, seasonal opportunity, with the potential to pick up additional work if desired. On The Rocks primarily offers climbing courses and experiences in the Milton Area. This is a very rewarding job in a beautiful location. We are also seeking guides for occasional work in the Collingwood and Kingston/Ottawa areas.
On The Rocks only contracts PCGI certified guides. We are happy to provide information on certification options and requirements, and may be able to help prospective guides prepare for and achieve certification. Guides typically work alone, but should expect a supportive work environment with opportunities for training, mentorship and coaching, open communication and flexible scheduling. Job Details
Introduce climbers to the cliff environment and provide instruction on climbing etiquette and technique, nature appreciation, etc.
 Help manage risk for groups of climbers, set up and take down equipment
Manage some guiding communications, and file appropriate reports
Teach climbing courses (within certification and training) and review curriculum
Inspect and store climbing equipment, waivers, etc.
 Represent On The Rocks in a positive, professional manner to the public and climbing community
Job Requirements
 PCGI Certification (TRG or SPG)
Wilderness First Aid Certification (20 or 40hrs, depending on location)
 Reliable transportation to and from work locations (no public transportation options are available)
 Available most weekends (days/time off can be arranged with notice)
 Work can be physically and mentally demanding, length of work day varies
 Personal guiding kit (climbing equipment) required, however climbing equipment for instruction and clients is provided
